It seems like ages since the store was up and running. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since I left Glenridge Avenue. I’m so excited to get the online store going, and it’s fun to look back and see some of the original things I had in the shop. It’s definitely evolved over time, with more of an emphasis on French design these days. If you see anything in the pictures you want or remember wanting, give a shout out and I’ll see if I can get it for you.

By the sea…

Well, I’m just back from a wonderful trip to Southern California with the family. My favorite thing to do on any trip is to discover wonderful, unique shops, and of course in California that isn’t difficult to do. I saw a lot of really interesting stores, but my favorite by far was Girard Avenue Collection in La Jolla. The owner, Shannon Turner, has been in business for 14 years and she couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, and she very kindly let me take photos. After wandering this incredible store for nearly an hour, I was finally able to focus and purchase a few gorgeous things for my house. The entire place is a treasure trove full of beachy farmhouse furniture in yummy shades of whites, greens and blues, incredible coral (I had never seen the grey kind), vintage crystal chandeliers, salvaged architecture, mercury glass and beautiful sea shells. Shannon also has a great collection of seaside paintings (I bought the one shown in the photos), linens and beautiful soaps and candles. Best of all, unlike many of the shops I visited in Los Angeles and La Jolla, this store has really great prices on even it’s most beautiful antiques. If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss it. I can’t wait to go back. 7505 Girard Avenue, La Jolla, CA. 858-459-7765.
